I wondered through the woods

I wandered through the woodlands green And heard the birdsong fill the air I saw the little streams serene With speckled trout that darted there I felt the breeze upon my face And smelled the fragrance of the flowers I marveled at the natural grace And wished to linger for some hours But then I heard a distant bell That called me back to toil and strife. I bade the woodlands a farewell. And turned to face the road of life.
