I Did Travel
I did travel
Many miles
From the North
To the very South
Through blistering desert heat
Staying
Just ahead
The flooding rains
Dodging Roo’s
And Camels
Those little Thorny devils
All so
Familiar to me
Then I come to a border
And pass into a different
Universe
Of Covid
And passes
Face masks for all
Social upheaval
Social isolation
I feel and I feel
For those
Stranded behind
Locked doors
I dodge and weave
The stumbling blocks
And road blocks
That the universe
Seems to be dropping
As if there’s no stopping
Because of the dreaded
Covid coughing
I make it
To the boat
That will sail me to lands end
Where my journey will end
Am locked in a cabin
To lay my head
Where the rocking
And rolling
Sends me yet again
To another Universe
Of . . .
No that’s a poem of its own.
I wake to
A new life
Of same old
Same old
Or will it be
From the sublime
To the ridiculous
Who knows
I will soon find out
But
Old mate
Once said
“Nothing ventured
Nothing gained
Nothing Lost
Nothing Changed”
“Qui onques rien
N’enprist riens N’achieva”
