I wrote this poem to honor our Country, Military, Veterans, Fallen Heroes and my 20 years in the Army.  I am also a Vietnam Veteran.  I want to thank all Veterans for their service regardless of what branch of the military they were in and when and where they served.

I am a banner that stands for hope and freedom, I've been around for over 200 years, I am the flag of the United States of America, I am known as Old Glory. I can be seen flying atop tall buildings, I've passed in review to honor our Military, Our Veterans and our Fallen Heroes, I am a recognized symbol of liberty. If I'm flown alongside the flags of other nations I get respect by being flown a little higher, My colors are red, white, and blue, Which stand for virtue, innocence, valor, Vigilance, perseverance and justice. I've been in every battle from Gettysburg, the beaches of Normandy, Korea, Vietnam and the Persian Gulf, I will not let any global foe deter me. I've watched our heroes go into battle, I've seen their bodies lying on the battlefields, They gave their lives for the cause of freedom, So we may maintain our democracy. I am the flag of the United States of America, I am a symbol of what America stands for, Our Nation has persevered over the years, By putting its faith and trust in Almighty God.

My gift of words is a gift from God and I hope to continue to write and bless everyone. I haven't a poem in a while but I hope my future poems will touch readers hearts and change a rainy day to sunshine and a rainbow. I want to thank all of my readers for your kind words.

I think you were meant to write this stern, hard impact sentiment with a talented pen from a deep emotional core. You expressed it right on and I'm ashamed more people won't comment on our flag. American loyalty is painfully askew. My father was career military, Vietnam tour and I grew up on one Army base after another. I grew up with that pride and sense that I grieve it now. Oh, dear - not therapy, Cay Cay! Obviously you touched me on a personal level, Don, and I'm glad of it. CayCay
