I Am a Pastry Chef

i am a pastry chef the constant baker my lot in life i have shelves filled with life's spices grains from many different fields my ovens are in constant heat doors begging to be opened that feed the outer shop where the world may peruse, purchase if it so cares but on that end, i hardly bother i am not interested in what life saunters away with more so the ghosts that come in this kitchen for an illuminating chat after the recipe has been prepared and the tray safely behind the oven door we sit and line by line remember the limns that now rest in ages gone by delighted i am with each new word that passes the lips from fields long harvested or explore a bit of myth, perfect metaphor how can one ever be alone when so many pastry chefs come thru the door, accompanied by pages that has served them well and tho they never lift a tray they are in every recipe and every pastry you taste OKC 6/27

It’s said that every poem’s a love poem. This makes a good case for that premise. Beautifully written.

Timothy first I hope you are feeling better. An amazing piece you have made real here. Love your unique metaphors that are uniquely created. Theme is one which I think was creativity at its best. Congratulations my friend...

if i have any talent for a metaphor it is because of my love of the le bon ton of poetry....if we find we have the want to write poetry as any decent apprentice we must learn from the master tradesmen and Lord knows the women, they open neuropathways where we create...it is the message not the messenger...my poem "poet is the ship's Captain" speaks of this

Great ingredients Timothy and so many wonderful layers. You've cooked up a treat of a poem here proving that cake is not just for birthdays - It's for poets too. Cheers - Gary

Timothy, I shall read this many times to savor its delicacies. You have a gift of swimming inside and outside of the human mind and heart in so many wonderful ways which I adore. I love the trays in the kitchen, the ghosts, the quiet solitude after the oven door is closed. So much here. So much more to learn from your words. I love the passage of time past, present and future. Beautiful. Love, Susan

thank you Susan....i am humbled by such praise....this grew out of my walking thru the the Aubade poems of poets, “daybreak” love songs that welcome the new morning but also lament the end of the night. Thus, it is typically about lovers parting at dawn....such a wealth to liesure within
