Human Mite Sight

How long is a short time, a hairs breadth above never Seen within one eye blink, the lash will move forever Perception throws curveball's, upon prismatic minds Yet outside double slits, life-forms live completely blind And voracious appetites, strip eyelashes of girth Feeding on sebaceous oil, dines parasitic birth Nibbling away, watching reality slip from sight Getting up close and personal, with demodex mites Making much from little, aiming to create new worlds Eyelashes warp under pressure, turn inward and curl Scratching the surface, observation now semi-blurred Eyeballs driving us crazy, itch cannot be demurred Lice-like creatures, slither up and down paying no tax Using eyelids as havens, in remorseless attacks Recombobulating dead skin, not the stuff of dreams We rip earths orb to shreds daily, in monster machines By David Kavanagh 16x13

Only a louse keeps on extracting from earth knowing of the harm it causes. Lice are plentiful there is always another louse to take its place. Your poem like a riddle, fascinating!

Thank you Anaya, a metaphorical riddle perhaps, I like to get the reader thinking sometimes most of the time, but you’re so right, always another louse to take another’s place, in this case living off each other and the damage unseen til recently, cheers David

David, wonderful use of the eye metaphor to convey your vision of shortsighted, greedy people who "rip earth's orb to shreds daily" in the blink of an eye. Your images are masterfully crafted and effectively carry your wise message. Thank you for sharing this gem! Blessings! Cheers!

Hey Sam, good to hear from you, all metaphoric of course, but nonetheless truthful, so much is hidden within plain sight, so close in fact, we need to zoom out and see clearly the big parasitic picture and nature of greed, not an easy read, thank you for understanding and commenting, cheers David

Your points are well-driven, David. We live in a parasitic world, being eaten alive by tiny creatures and feeding off each other... greedy for another bite to bring one another down. I feel an overwhelming need to change my sheets and shower for a really long time. I enjoy all your poetry, particularly the longer one, where I can grasp a bit more of your depth.

Ha I apologise Jenna, this one is designed to get under the skin, you totally understand my intentions here, so much more going on around us and on us, that we actually become blinded and inured to it, I just try open peoples eyes, and give them something to think about, perhaps whilst my own are shut, cheers David
