HOLDING HANDS

HOLDING HANDS Together we held hands throughout the years And made sure we could hear each other’s breath. I was completely loved from toes to ears And still am, though she passed through dark and death. I love her still though I can’t feel her hand (Except sometimes, I think I really do!) She is my darling – I await the sand That falls and will one day take me off, too. But now, for now, I’ll seek another wife, In seven years, the Peace I’ve found is rich. I still have Joy in me and, filled with life Love waits for me in some bright, lighted niche Perhaps just like a living statue there I’ll find a Golden Heart with Raven Hair...

There is so much charm in your sonnets! I especially like "Except sometimes, I think I really do!" and "I await the sand That falls and will one day take me off, too" A mosaic--pain, sorrow, peace, joy, hope--like stained glass--with light shining through.
