Gorilla

I am Gorilla, and this my domain You humans return to ensnare me again Mankind with his bullets has not caught me yet Hey Fella, that there is one hell of a net! Now in the zoo with not much to do The people pass by in an orderly queue They all seem impressed when I beat my chest They’re easily pleased so I give it my best The zoo put a sign up with one word: BEWARE! As king of the beasts, my job is to scare For I am the Silverback! Alpha Gorilla So what made those idiots call me Priscilla

Enjoyed from start to finish, although many zoos seem to believe the natural habitat of a gorilla is a cement jungle.... Aloha!

Thanks, Rico. You’re not wrong about certain zoos. Glad you enjoyed this. It was meant to be ‘G’ in an alphabet of kids poems, but it wasn’t ‘kiddy’ enough, so I thought I’d dip it in Soup! Terry

Thanks, Ilene. Glad you enjoyed. Never started out with any notion of social comment… funny how things shape up. Terry

Lol. A very clever write about a difficult subject, and to come up with witty lines. And of course, the very funny "knockout punch line" last line. Great!...ab

Thanks, AB. Started out as a bid to write a poem rhyming Gorilla with Priscilla. Had no idea where it would take me…then this happened. Glad you enjoyed. Terry

Thanks Deb. If you saw my comment on your poem ‘Fly’ you might have guessed that this was meant to be ‘G’. It didn’t feel right for a kids poem, so I wrote another couple, leaving this going spare. Glad you enjoyed. Terry

(chuckling) Another good...no, great one, Terry. Your lines gave me several chuckles. It is good to be home and to know you are still here and still bringing us your inimitable humor! What the world really needs is more laughter!!!

Welcome home, Milt, hope you had a great time. Glad the gators never got you. I’m working on an A-Z of kids poems (in an attempt to push my brain in that direction). One or two have been a little too grown up and this was one such. Glad you enjoyed. Terry
