A fictional poem for  Robert James Liquori's Glenn Hughes contest.

"Goodbye to Romance" is a song originally performed by Ozzy Osbourne on his debut solo album Blizzard of Ozz (1980). Glenn Hughes has covered this song, delivering his unique vocal style to the classic track.

Glenn Hughes' cover of "Goodbye to Romance" can be found on the tribute album Bat Head Soup: A Tribute to Ozzy (2000). His rendition of the song maintains the emotional depth and melancholic tone of the original while showcasing his powerful and soulful voice.

Oh my beloved, liberate me from my antagonist. I feel like a seashell washed upon an abandoned shore. I try to leave footprints for you to find me, but the tide keeps washing them away. In the asylum of loneliness, silence haunts. I'm tired of dancing with your silhouette, because the shadows are always there. I don't want to be a ghost of your past, but time has become an enemy without boundaries. I'm still waiting for you to knock on my door, so we can once again dance with romance. I wish I could forget everything and fall asleep, but I cannot let go, anxious of nightmares, I've not learned how to say goodbye. All good has gone, or so it feels, so I pretend to pretend that nothing is real. I know a smile is a lie and I'm not fine. My heart promises my mind, we'll paint the town red one night, Illuminate like crimson moonlight, no longer disheartened by fading memories but the scars of my heart are like concrete cracks, my tears falling like titanium drops. I wonder if I will cry forever. There's an inconsistency in my sanity. These fire and ice emotions, are a repression of depression, as I cannot escape reality. You were the most unique petal. Now I'm wondering if this is the last spring. I feel like a florist without a flower. My spirit is vanishing like the winter sun. Everything is blooming into thorns, written with blood stained words. In the blackest night, I'm a solitary soul and there's a million stars in the sky tonight, but not one of them can brighten my eyes - only you. There is no lesson in this adversity, I have no desire to become a broken heart collector. I know it's your voice and touch, that keeps me waiting, anticipating - endlessly. Instead of questioning the devotion of my attention why not take some time off from our separation, because you know my weakness is your strength

"In the blackest night, I'm a solitary soul and there's a millions stars in the sky tonight, but not one of them can brighten my eyes - only you." The sobbing of a heart, bitten by 'love bug'. No body but your loved one alone can console you and give purpose and meaning to your existence. This is one of the most passionate love letters I have read recently. All the Best dear Silent One.

"I'm tired of dancing with your silhouette, because the shadows are always there." -- Great verse! -- "Instead of questioning the devotion of my attention why not take some time off from our separation, because you know my weakness is your strength" -- Interesting observation and profound enigma. Well done my friend.

SO, a very powerful exploration of the sadness that comes from a relationship failed or a rejection. You probably know I have some familiarity with these feelings. I think many of us do. It seems to come from things that happened when I was young. It eventually seems odd and funny that thoughts like this return after time, when the clear choice is not in the rear-view mirror. Our minds are fragile and delicate for sure and you capture it so well. Smiles here!

We cannot fully learn how to say goodbye as there's no such thing. We can only hope for our memories to fade so the hurts become shallow. " My weakness is your strength." That's so much love to give and I fancy it. This person means so much and they are needed for completion and stability. "I wonder if I will cry forever. There's an inconsistency in my sanity. These fire and ice emotions, are a repression of depression, as I cannot escape reality." Damn. Great one Dear, Silent.

Dear SO, what great imagery and so well expressed. As I read your poem it brought back memories of failed romances that I thought would return but never did or if they did they were short lived. Now I am a counselor I meet with many a client who struggle with breakup. I see a great deal of wisdom in this well inked poem. - Blessings, My Dear Friend, Daniel

I try to leave footprints for you to find me, but the tide keeps washing them away... I'm tired of dancing with your silhouette… I don't want to be a ghost of your past… I know a smile is a lie and I'm not fine (my nephew would say this often)…So much more…a fave! Great imagery and heart, dear one! Hugs

I think we all will be waiting for her to knock on your door, as we want to read what you would write on the dance of love. I am off writing country rap songs. Its har d to swap mindset and pen here... But I always make it a habit to read what you have to say. - Susan

So many lines, Silent One, stand out for me here! I could only aspire to one day be able to create something as moving as this piece! Yet, it is one of the very first, "seashell washed upon an abandoned shore" that sets the tone and carries me throughout. So deeply emotive and and expressive is your "Goodbye To Romance"

Dear silent one, my heart literally stopped for you as i read this beautiful and poignant poem woven with brilliant metaphors, im listening to ed sheeran “ dancing with my eyes closed” and as i read this i cant help but resonate with this touching poem! I think robert will love this, and i resonated with “ I wish I could forget everything and fall asleep, but I cannot let go, anxious of nightmares, I've not learned how to say goodbye.” Every word hits home! I think goodbyes will never be easy for some of us. And this poem i cant pick a fave line really because everything about this speaks to my soul! Especially “ There's an inconsistency in my sanity. These fire and ice emotions, are a repression of depression,” mental health something not many can understand
