Good Guy
Used to be as a teenager the good guys finished last
The girls liked us as friends, but preferred guys
Who were trouble and fast
I always stood just watching
Yeah, that was in the past
Time went on; I got smarter as I got older
Yet, the girls didn’t want the quiet smart ones
They still wanted ones bolder
That one girl, well she’d miss out
Or at least that’s what I told her
Not trusting who I was
Or what I aimed to be
I never understood
Why couldn’t she just see
That I was worth the time
If she’d just give me a try
One day she will regret
Turning down this… good guy
I saw her in a parking lot, just the other day
Years were not that kind to her
But I was too good to say
I asked her of her life
She just walked away
I heard her guy of choosing was serving 5 to 10
For attempted murder of a guy
That she considered a friend
Look at her now, I feel bad
Her life is a dead end
Not trusting who I was
Or what I aimed to be
I never understood
Why couldn’t she just see
That I was worth the time
If she’d just give me a try
One day she will regret
Turning down this… good guy
I really hope her life improves
In any way, just some how
Cause I didn’t have the heart
To say I’m a lawyer now
Oh, well
