God's Victorious Son
GOD’S VICTORIOUS SON
The manger now is bare,
The Baby isn’t there.
The cross upon the hill
Is not there standing still.
The grave, too, it is bare,
For Christ did not stay there!
Yet every Christmas time
Why is it that we find
A manger with a babe
Who’s there been newly laid?
And why as Easter nears
Do we see Him appear
On crosses, hung in shame?
Oh, it’s not really wrong
To sing the Christmas songs,
To see again that bed
Whereon He laid His head.
And yes, the cross reminds
Of love so pure and kind
That He displayed up there
As He hung in despair.
But He’s alive today,
The stone is rolled away,
And we can know this One
God’s own victorious Son,
By calling on His name.
