Geese In the Sky
GEESE IN THE SKY
I heard a noise there coming from the sky
And looked and saw some geese just flying by.
I watched as each with wings so gracefully
Beat rhythm all together in their “V”.
I wondered: Why the noise and why the shape?
And why the matching rhythm that they make?
I searched and soon I learned the reasons why,
And it became a lesson from the sky.
The “V” is for the flow of passing air,
The rhythm all together flying there,
The noise like an announcement in the sky--
Yes, all was there at once, and here was why:
The shape they make while flying in that “V”
And one who leads becomes the first of three,
The rhythm sends the lead’s created air
To all those who are flying with him there.
And finally that noise so clear and loud,
A shout encouraging the flying crowd...
The lesson, so quite simple, from these three:
I need each one to always in life be.
