Full Moon's Knock
'Tis a rare night in winter when the moon shines full
And a warm wind gently whispers my name
That I am drawn from my bed, hair wild, skin bare
To join in a Moon Fairies' game.
Their beauty is such that would shame Trojan queens
But a sparkle of gold's all you'll see
Unless invited like me to frolic about
In a manner so pagan and free.
We ride on the breeze, in a weightless ballet
As trees stretch their branches to touch
The beautiful, featherless, glittery birds
Addictive, rare, valued so much.
I wish that our party would last all my life
But, sadly, with sunlight they flee
And I find myself waking up in my bed
Still flushed from the night's fantasy.
The fairies will dance with whomever they find
With heart open to turn back the clock
And dance on the wind playing tag with the trees
Just by answering the full moon's knock.
