From a Passionate Swain a Straightforward Declaration of Love Is Made
I love women who gracefully dance
And sweetly sing; and women who
Avidly read and who brilliantly think;
I love women who love to love—
And who despise to hate—and who
Receive and give of themselves, as well.
I love women who are outwardly
Lovely—and inwardly beautiful;
And whose beauty is obvious or hidden.
I love women who graciously give—
And who sparingly take—women
Who selflessly sacrifice and who
Willingly pay the price. I love women
Of all types—and of all dispositions:
Women of poise and refinement;
And women of modest, self-effacing,
And humble repose. I love women who
Are free to go—and who are free to
Stay—and women who are free to
Spite and loathe, and free to love.
I love women who are well-received,
And women who are well-spoken of;
I love women who are quiet,
And women who are bold and strong.
I love women who are reflective;
And women who are introverted,
And from time to time extroverted, too.
I love women who sacrifice for their family—
And who are kind to strangers—
I love women who value their loved ones—
And the dignity of others.
I love women who are chaste—
And exercise self-control;
But I also love women who are unrestrained,
And who are just full of desire!
I love women who think deeply—
And sweetly—and act on their ideas,
And are entirely in their heads.
I love women who are smart and cerebral—
And women who are sensual and physical.
I love women who are about God,
And women who are all about men.
I also love women who are pure in heart
And in spirit—and women who
Are pure in everything else. I love
Women who are robust and confident,
And are strong and sure—who are full of
Self-esteem (and thus love who they are)!
I love women who are maternal,
And who—if need be—are paternal, too;
And women who are protective—
And boundlessly affectionate as well.
I love women who give a damn!
And women who could not care less—
I love women who are hotly passionate,
And women who can be coldly indifferent.
I love women whose laughter is infectious—
And whose sense of humor is charming;
I love women who can tell off-color jokes
That are lambently witty. And women who
Laugh at my own feeble jokes
Simply because they like my style;
I love women who have class—
And are paragons of perfect poise.
I love women who are committed—
And women who are open to a romance—
I love women who are in love with their man,
And women who are in love with their God.
I love women who are diligent on the job,
And at the home—and are on top of things,
And do not miss a beat: women who know
How to relax and unwind—and have some fun
After a hard day at work; and are restful
And reposed after a Sunday afternoon of
Lovemaking and can sleep like a kitten.
I love women who are delicately open
Like a flower in bloom—or are securely
Closed like a vault of treasure;
I love women who are beautiful
And priceless like a diamond unearthed,
And women who are dulcetly
Reminiscent of a Beethoven symphony.
I love women who are poetry in motion—
And women who are a statuette in marble;
I love women who are a breath of fresh air:
And women who are the epitome of Love—
And the embodiment of Grace,
The mirror of Beauty, and the model of Wisdom.
I love women who inspire me to be a better man,
And by being themselves increase my love for them.
I love women who stir my love for others,
And whose example revives my love for God.
I love women for all these reasons above: because
I love my grandmother, mother, sister, and all
My other female relatives and friends. But mostly,
I love them because I am both a Poet and a man.
