Freedom Is Not Free

Friend of freedom is close at hand, Roaming the battlefields across our land, Engulfed by whisps of smoke that somehow pervade, Entrenched by the enemies' live grenades, Directing their tracer fire across the sector, Over the bloody scene carnage is a spectre, Many have perished because freedom is not free!

No my friend, freedom is not free. It comes at a very high price, but then nothing so precious is ever free. Too many of us have not been taught from childhood what our forefathers sacrificed so we could live the way we do. It's all taken too much for granted by this untaught new generation. Too many have not been taught about WW11 and the Korean War where my dad and many others, their Grandparents, fought so gallantly. Great write here. God bless, JB

Judy, you are so right. My grandpa was in Pearl Harbor when it was bombed and also on Iwo Jima during the taking of the island when they raised the flag. I served on the DMZ in Korea and witness the remnants of war. Thank you for reading, I will check out some of yours. God Bless you and I am thankful for your daddy's service! He's a soldier of freedom! :)
