Forgetful

My eyes became red and I was trying to rub it away. Then I jerk awake and everything is bright and different. Everyone is moving and whirling around me. I’m hiding, I’m hiding but they know. As if a stranger has been tapping at my door, and I’ve been hiding so I don’t have to answer. Hiding and hiding, and they never go away. Tapping turns to banging. And it’s just my parents. But I forgot I have parents. I am numb. So I forgot.
