FORGED IN THE FIRE

Looking back, I’m ashamed of what I was,
Of the decisions I made, and the promises I broke
I regret everything,
From the words that I never said,
To the wrong words that left my lips.

I regret carrying the weight of others,
Crushing and ruining myself for people who never cared,
For people who only needed someone to bear their burdens,
Take responsibility for their mistakes,
Someone weak and timid, too nice to say no.

But, I’m different now,
I finally have a purpose and I’m not just matter, occupying space
I’ve realized the person I was born and created to be,
A person that can dream and achieve,
Though not without flaws and scars.

And as ugly as it might seem, it’s a part of me
It’s my identity, a reminder of what I’ve gone through,
The battles I’ve fought,
The survivor that I am,
After all, the gold has to go through the furnace before it glitters.

Indeed, I’ve gone through fire,
I’m currently one with the flames,
Each crest of yesterday has become a trough,
The high mountain that made my heart pound in fear,
Is where I stand now in triumph.

From everything that has happened,
There’s one thing to deduce,
With time and at the right time,
We would all be victors and win the battles that has made us shed blood.

The battle that has caused us to cry rivers of tears,
The warfare that led to severe heart aches
Though it may seem endless, it will eventually cease.
And when it does, we’d look back and reminisce with pride and smiles,
Knowing fully well that we’ve emerged stronger, like a phoenix from the ashes.

As we move on, we’ll carry these scars as an evidence of our resilience,
A reminder of the battles we’ve fought and won,
We’ll keep our head up high,
Facing the future with courage and hope that even in the darkest times,
God slowly steers the soul towards a new dawn”
