Fissure
she reluctantly...
dismantles her walls
and let's love in
long after
the first perfidy,
only to be struck by
yet another thunderbolt
of betrayal.
her heart
splinters in half
and hardens to granite;
cold to the touch!
impregnable barricade
now wraps around
a heart once inviting
with "stay away" sign
posted on it.
beset by cynicism
and lingering distrust.
an irreparable fissure.
