Fighting Blizzards
few headlights light the road
worried drivers headed to their abode
progress more and more being slowed
in hope of not having to be towed
not all that far to go
perhaps two miles or so
as dark sky drops snow
big flakes falling slow
snow above the ankles so cold
should have done as I was told
instead of trudging forward seeking foothold
refusing to admit what weather controlled
some promises should not be kept
some vows yield results we do not expect
without clothes warm enough having been wrapped
for the blizzard into which you have stepped
