Fifty Two Years Ago
Fifty two years ago
I saw her walk in the front of me
her body did sway with a pert little walk
perking my interest I wanted to see
her face and her hair, perhaps we could talk
I sped up my pace to face her carefree
I smiled with surprise and she smiled back at me
and faltered to speak for seconds apart
but managed to speak the plea from my heart
time has been long and I found you at last
give me your name while we have a repast
she laughed at my whim and joined me to dine
I drank to the hope that she would be mine
and fifty two years we relive the past
