FIDDLE-HEAD

An infant shoot - a tight green crook Boldly it rises to assert With confidence its back unfurls Now upright it spreads out its arms Thus fronds set free from fledgling fern Soon it grows into adult form With reproductive spores to spread And produce offspring fiddle-heads.

I learnt a new word today Tony, fiddle head. I know theres hundreds of varieties, when I was in Jamaica we went on a trip to fern gully, I didn't know that they are used in lotions and cosmetics, the list is endless. Tom

I have a few ferns and love to see the fiddleheads grow. It seems that some are edible and popular in some dishes. But check it out first. Tony
