Fear of Being Cast As the Wicked Witch

I have removed my idea for casting characters for the Wizard of Oz.  It would seem someone(s) took umbrage at the suggestion, perhaps in fear they'd be cast as a character they would not like to be associated with.  I find that amusing.

This doesn’t surprise me at all, Jenna, but it’s too bad that some people tend to overreact and spoil the fun for everyone else. I admire you for trying to bring the Soup community together…

Thank you so sincerely, Ilene. I've heard from many who wanted to take part in what was meant to be an amusing challenge. What fun it would've been to read those lists. If it'd been suggested by someone else, perhaps it would've been accepted as a good idea. Cest la vie!

Well.....first I heard of this idea Jenna. But I would have to vote for Gershon as the Wizard of Oz. ...it seems the FLYING MONKEYS win again.....

;) Good take on the absurdity of the issue, John. I guess we'll never know who would be cast because of a flying monkey's screeching. I posted the idea yesterday as a new post but removed it voluntarily after admin removed my suggestion in a blog. I guess whoever screeches loudest wins their approval. I'm not a screamer. I appreciate your view.

Amazing what woke folk can do to a community of poets, let alone any other group. Shameful and plain wrong. Is any community bonding exercise "ok"? ~;o[

It’s weird that a person can have bespoke contests every other day, yet you couldn’t have a bit of fun with a casting couch for a fairytale wicked witch, what the hell’s going on with this site, I would’ve been proud to play the brainless Tin man alongside you Jenna, ha! wait a minute he was heartless, the scarecrow I mean, if I if I only had a brain cheers David

David. I had you cast, but not as the scarecrow. Maybe in time I will list my cast of characters for the movie roles, but some would certainly tremble to see if their names were there. I will tell you one poet that I chose to play Todo...only Caren Krutsinger could be that adorably cute and bouncy. Due to the fear of at least one, the fun will not be enjoyed by those who wanted to take part. I feel as you do about that contest sponsor.

I can think of no other reason why an innocent suggestion made to bring a little fun to this dull and weary site would be taken as anything other humor. I suppose some would rather complain from the shadows instead of taking part in what was meant to nothing more than entertaining.
