Fake Things
What I loathe are the fake things
Porcelain smiles, cardboard handshakes
Laughter so hollow, it echoes
Nebulous promises forgotten
Just as soon as they are enunciated
Pretence when none is needed
Feigned sincerity that even
A child can see through
Nebulous promises, however well-intentioned
I loathe to the Nth degree
Sweet as they might be
They soon melt away like candifloss
Fakeness, I loathe
Sincerity, I love
For it speaks to character and substance
To which, I can only aspire
