Easter Bunny

He is more mischievous than you’d think. He pretended to be a plumber and broke my sink. He spread pesticide on my flowers. He chewed my shoe laces in the past hours. The Easter Bunny is a disgrace. Who has no qualms about shattering my vase. The Easter Bunny who seems so cute… Made charges on my card I had to dispute. He acts up all year. Until Easter is almost here. Then he paints eggs with his little paint brush. And delivers candy in a rush. But the Easter Bunny is mean to me. Ever since I adopted him, you see. He refuses to be confined to a cage. And demands a living wage. He claims he needs money for his candy to spread joy. Easter is the only day he doesn’t annoy. When it’s the day of Easter. He likes me to brush his fur. He even lets me give him a bath. Without having any wrath. Sure, he is a little crazy most of the year. But I can’t help but shed a tear. When he hands me a basket of treats. And lets me tickle his bunny feet. It makes me forget the day before. When he ate my last apple down to the core. On Easter he is finally well behaved. We share some chocolate which we’ve both craved. I start to think maybe he’s changed. And a little less deranged. “Easter only comes once a year,” he laments. Then he’s back to eating my sticks of incense.
