Earth One

A vision woke me from my sleep, a dream. Images I feared would return, darkening day-to-night shadows, faulty dreams of time gone by extinguishing existence of mind, heart, and soul. It was birthing in gardens of paradise, food to savor and enjoy, love's companion to escape the gentleness of happiness, pleasure, joy, Eden may never come again in my lifetime. The exodus had begun because of self-indulgent doubt, the light had gone dark, Big Bang stymied in observable reality of time, space and earth rotation slowing to expose its history. Mankind traverses the bounty and firmament of existence searching for power, possession, control. The cost? Disjointed from the populace, rule, and determination of consent decrees to rule, to decide, to decipher self-created truths and beliefs, to take away the people's will, to be determined only, by Kings, queens, tyrants, dictators, Caesars, Caliphs, Emperors, Kings, Popes, Prime Ministers and Presidents. What's in a name if it does not speak for the whole of mankind? Images within the dream found the gardens too full, so the man tore down the forest trees, laid waste to the deserts and mountains, fed the oceans, streams, and rivers with his residue until there was no life, all extinct, save his own, devoured by the man himself. He set fire to the prairies, cut the forests down, crumbled mountains to stone and dust, incarcerated the native peoples, and claimed it all for the sake of his mighty rule. He paved paradise and put in parking lots. The people, the community of man, the humanity of the living, would serve or die, and die many did; genocides of cultures too unlike the man's choices would reveal, bodies in mass graves, tortured, rotting and decaying humanity, blown away by bombs, guns, bullets, knives, and spears, an overwhelming, obsessive anger, fear, and hate of differences. No creatures remained untouched, no water, no food, earth stagnated, hostage to decay, debris, pollution clogging spirit, body, and soul until every man, woman, and child was slowly erased, extinguished by life's absence. Kings, dictators, rulers could exist without followers, each died in the stench of greed, lost power and control, with no one to rule, he was alone, non-existent. The Earth continued to spin, rotate and evolve, and the cosmos survived, as the moon raced to escape the sun, but no life pursued the continuity for existence, for life that was, and Earth One, was no more. It was a dream, right?
