The scent of linen, Slacks, creams, leather. Mellow tunes. Soft muted bustle. We move promptly to our quest. In the purse, Mom’s hard won cash. ~ The shoe department... Always with my size and style. The well-groomed salesman, His warm charm sooths my unease At the cold chrome size device. ~ Brylcreem, tweed, Old Spice. Soft caring hands hold my feet. New shoes. Perfect fit. And now, such memories past Bring warm solace to my years.

Thanks so much for the double Joe. Yes, aroma, taste, auditory reflection provide that magic carpet ride to the past, even some visuals like Xmas cookies; trees with green speckles in a foil-lined basket beckoning.

It is so nice to see that you dropped in. I'm of a generation where those specific memories are sooo imprinted. In fact, at that very store, my 6th grade teacher workrd the evening shift in the men's/boy's department to help supplement his teachers salary. The times I encountered him there were awkward for the both of us....me because it was so out-of-context and he due to his financial constraint. - Ken
