Dream Delayed,The Middle Years

Needless to say I never went back.They all thought it was because of their extraordinary skill at
helping me to see that womanizing,wife beating,piece of work would never change.It was however my brothers friend.I remember my first sight of him .He and my brother worked up a skit as I was in the bathroom.When I came back my brother got me in a  head lock and they started singing in unison,oh my leetle masochistic seester
When she say beat me how can you rezeest her.
Yeah real funny boys .So, I divorced, got with The Dude(not just any dude)and was happy as a clam
for a while.We parted ways and I moved back to my home area in Missourri .Hated it there,moved back to Alabama tried to rekindle old flame failed miserably and settled into a gisgruntled state of mediocraty.Met a man that I heard was divorced with a small boy of four .I think I married him for the child.Seriously.The kid needed a mama.He was basically a taller version of hubby numero uno.Third week into marraige he came home in
a state that I will not go into however it was a deal breaker.Moved to the couch that night and told him as soon as the shock wore off I would be making other arrangements.One day he came home little guy in tow and got down on his knees couchside and took my head in his enormous hands
to tell me he had not done the deal breaker deed.Suddenly his little boy hurled himself onto his back screaming don't you hurt her. Made me wonder what that little fella saw with his own mama and that cat.Anyway,I thought you know what,It's time .I called a friend.She came and got me.Within two days I was divorced.Within five I was back in Missouri with everything I owned 
on his screened in porch.Never went back. He called me late one night crying into the phone.I said Tommy,my daughter said when she came by to get some of her stuff that she found soiled briefs of your sons in the bathroom .He had reverted back to old behaviour as his dad stood around with his head up his butt.I am never coming back to you so you need to concentrate on making a life for your son.So that was two houses
I walked away from as when I arrived his ex had taken everything but the floor trim and her son .I referred to this as my three month long nightmare .  You know what was funny?His best friend married a woman who walked away from her kid.He talked about her like a dog .Imagine my surprise when I later heard he had taken her from
O' best buddy.Might have been who he was seeing
during the ninety odd days I endured .
