Down To the Sea
I went down to the sea today.
I arrived in the usual way.
The sand, the rocks, the waves,
And the docks, were all still there.
Yet the sands shift, rocks weather,
Docks list, and waves crash away.
The tides rise, the tides fall,
As my eyes and ears absorb it all.
The sent of sea air, produced by decay.
Yet my soul is at ease and my spirits raised.
For the seas are really quite tranquil today.
