Dog Days and Gnats

DOG DAYS AND GNATS In the great State of Georgia and elsewhere too We have what we call 'dog days' I don't know where the term comes from I just know it comes and stays With oppressive heat and temperatures That soar to a hundred and five It really makes one wonder Just how one will survive To go outside and be attacked By gnats that come in swarms You swat and slap to drive them off 'Til you fear you'll lose your arms But now I've learned the secret I need not flail to and fro I just place my bottom lip over my top And very gently blow That keeps the little devils Out of my eyes and nose While hoping with all that's in me 'Dog days' will go where they 'goes' Curtis Moorman 24 August 2011

I spoke with a friend of mine in Liberty Township today. When she and her husband visit us in the summer, she always complains that the gnats are actually worse here. They are a pain no matter where you're located.
