Delightful Summer
Delightful Summer, how I welcome thee
With the sun shining high above my head,
It's vacation time, children are now free
To enjoy the beach, or be ice-cream fed;
Sweat pours down as I tend to my garden,
Or saunter in silence amid the trees,
I like this warmth, when the ground does harden,
And there is a hint of the gentlest breeze;
Oh Summer! To see flow'rs bloom in the sun,
Or to go fishing in the gurgling stream
Satisfies my soul, when the day is done -
You're like the fragment of a lovely dream;
Closer to my Creator I am drawn
In summertime, in the sunny bright dawn.
