Deciduous Time

Oh how I rue this deciduous time relentless in it’s passing year by year; while robbing memories we hold so dear and shedding yonker that was once our prime. Through time we plod this monumental climb; the cliffs of life we grapple fighting fear while ever facing time’s relentless jeer as youth is spent on chasing dreams sublime. And yet we’ve heard it said that as we age we gain more wisdom with each passing phase, endowments mastered as life’s dream pursues. But still with passing time the battles rage, and loss of youth we shed as hopes abrase. Deciduous time this aging poet rues. September 3, 2025

Brilliant John!!! So relatable! You, Mr. B. Bartley, and now me, all three poets contending with time…each in their own time.

Time does seem to pass more quickly with age. As children we think Christmas (or birthday) seems to loiter around and wait forever; but we oldsters look back and say, where does the time go; it's Christmas day again. Great thoughts on the deciduousness of time, John. What is this "yonker" or maybe I don't really want to know?

This is so very true, in addition, the older we get the more we realize how precious time is. I appreciate you sharing your thoughts and comments. Yonker or younker, it can be spelled either way, means youth or a young fellow.

Time moves quickly and just like that, moments are gone. Even though we can't go back to yesterday, we can live in the beauty of today. I ' cherish ' each and every moment given. Your thoughts caress gently around me and my heart. My best to you, John. Hugs, Brandy

Each passing year seems to go by more quickly and the past moments are further and further in the past. Perhaps you are right, we should live only in the moments of this day. Thank you for your continued support, Brandy, without your encouragement perhaps I wouldn’t be writing. Warm hugs, John
