Crazy Valentine
My crazy valentine,
once upon a dream you were mine
but then you went away
on a stormy rainy day.
But that was long ago
when I dreamed I loved you so.
You made me laugh and smile
and it was fun for a little while.
And though I knew we’d never be
I held you close to me
and my heart began to beat once more
when you knocked upon my heart's door.
But it was just a dream,
a very lovely dream
and in it you loved me too
but...it wasn't true.
The dream suddenly turned black.
You went away never to come back.
The dream became a nightmare
as you left me there.
And now though I am strong
for you sometimes I long
remembering the time
when I dreamed you were mine.
And I weep to myself
as I sit upon this shelf
like a toy you put away that day
on a stormy rainy day.
How foolish I must seem
realizing it was just a dream
for I’m the crazy valentine
to ever think you could be mine.
