Concession Speech

When a candidate loses, That person must reach All who gave their support With a televised speech. So I watched VP Harris, The crowd fighting tears, Though it didn’t do much To assuage all my fears. Yet she said what she had to And offered her thanks, Reassuring the voters We need to close ranks. If the fight isn’t over, As Kamala said, There’s a lot to be done And four long years ahead.

I feel like we, as poets, should express our feelings regarding world changing events. You have done that well, letting people know that they are not alone in their fear and grief. We can only hope for the best and remain guardians of our nation.

I loved her quote from the speech along the lines of "stars are brightest in the dark" Four long years indeed, best we can do is shine.
