Chestnut Bed
She lays in her chestnut bed
Surrounded by white satin sheets
Her head upon a white satin pillow
As she lays in her solemn slumber deep
The sobs and crys surround her too
The wails of the brokenhearted at wake
The "I love you's and Miss you's" muttered
But not a sign she hears, she'll make
Her slumber is everlasting
She's no longer attuned to the waking world
Her body swathed in elegance and grace
But her mind and soul have unfurled
She lays in darkness in her chestnut bed
Never to wake to again see the sun
Soon she'll sleep under layers of earth
In silence...with lifes trials left undone
