Chasing Demons
Chasing demons
16/08/2018
Chasing demons
in the demon drink.
Chasing them away
One would think.
Take a swig
Long and deep.
The hole you dig
You soon will reap.
Pass my lip
Slide sweetly down.
Just one sip
And I will drown.
Fill the hole
Hidden within.
Belly swollen
Big bottle of Gin.
Abate your trouble
For one night.
Awake it’s doubled
Hold on tight.
Drinking sessions
And money burned.
Life’s hard lessons
Have been learned.
I used to think
Drink was my friend.
The demon drink
My heart would mend.
But I have an addiction
After all.
A large predilection
For alcohol.
The demons won’t
Ever leave me.
Your sermons won’t
Ever appease me.
I’m the one
Who has the voice.
I won’t drink again
I made my choice.
