Cecil
His looks were noted as being exceptional
He could pose for a camera like a professional
For a lion his life was one of peace and quiet
He had everything required including his diet
He spent many hours gazing fondly at his sons
Who would follow his footsteps to be the royal ones
A day arrived when he saw men before him standing
They carried something and to him they were signaling
Being very curious is the nature of all cats
If it's a treat he must find just where it's at
What then happened was a most grievous pain
For many hours could not move from where he'd lain
His death was shameful and should remind one and all
A repulsive man wanted this lion's head for his wall
