Breaking Down Barriers

The day has come to hear the inner voice Once whispering now yelling it out loud, The time has come to make a simple choice, Or drown in shame and forget to be proud. For years it has been tugging at my heel. Until I kicked it down and turned away, Too scared to face the truth and how I feel, The time for love would come another day. Yet now the day has come and I feel fear, Afraid of passion taking o’er my heart, All senses lost as thoughts now fall apart But worse, the fear of not having her near. All barriers broken by her sweet touch, For her, the girl I love beyond too much. Form: Australian Sonnet
