Bottle of Wine

When did it happen, and why to me? What was it that lured me in? As I mixed Joe a drink at the bar, I realized I was attracted to him. His eyes? That smile? Probably all the right words he spoke that evening. Who knows, but he won me over. That night was the last drink Joe had. The relationship became everything I had hoped for and we shared a good three months of bliss. One evening my best friend brought over a bottle of wine for him. Oh, no! I had heard about his past drinking. First he laughed and joked around. Not so bad. By time the bottle was empty I was being beaten. Scared as I was I kicked him out, even if it was just for the night! My weakened heart wanted him back but my Lord knew better. God allowed me to find out that my best friend was really Joe's friend (with benefits). This was the end of a relationship with someone I thought I loved and the end of one I truly loved, my best friend. She got him and I never let her know just how much pain she had put me through. Besides, Karma bit her back! October 24/21 The Highroad Contest

What a horrible excuse for a "best" friend. Ugh! I am glad you kicked her to the curb.

So sorry for your pain, Virginia. No one deserves that. But you walked away and are better for it. Those two deserve each other. Good luck with the contest.

it's pretty amazing what goes on in life's experiences I am not the worse for it. Actually, it allowed me to go on and am now in a wonderful relationship for over 12 years. Thankyou for your feedback.

I must agree with you. I went to Germany several years ago. I saw that even on work breaks they had thier beer, seemed like they weren't drunken fools. I hope you are right about them. Thanks for your comment.

Try a different country, e.g., Americans get drunk and want to argue and fight whereas Germans get drunk and want to sing and dance on table tops . . . . .

It must have been a cheap bottle of wine (lol). You know what they say...what comes around goes around. Sometimes it feels so much better to let things out. Great write, Virginia. Good luck in the contest...hugs Charlie
