Black Hills, South Dakota

Gigantic pylons of wind-carved granite Form astonishing pillars of natural wonder Sculptures to rival Borglum's finest faces Perilously perched along the winding trail Punctuating the Black Hills with awesome Commas of towering mystical totems Where once the proud Native Americans Roamed with the buffalo in blessed peace

Another wonderful poem. I once drove through the Black Hill, and you are right. They are a wonder of natural sculpture. I loved the last two lines . Perfect.

Thank you, Barbara. Frankly, I enjoyed the granite pylons as much as Mount Rushmore. They should be considered for one of the seven natural wonders of North America!

Again have only seen pictures of the native Americans sacred place, I know the government offered compensation for their loss but they refused saying it wasn't for sale, I can understand why. Tom

Hello Milton ... it appears that with progress, comes destruction and heartbreak for some. Our once small village is now on the verge of being a suburb of a city, so childhood memories and photos are for me now - thanks Milton - Lindsay
