Bird Series #1

Eternal love is considerate, in its presence ~ gliders grace with elegance—Poet All true and deep love is a sacrifice—Carl Jung
*
As winter’s snow drifts upon the meadows I await the thaw, * and the caw of the cockatoo perched on the magnolia tree branch White icy avalanche melting, * nourishing the soil ‘neath the brittle bush * As the first cherry blossom blooms An umbra of blushing pink A white parrot whistles his tunes Spring dissipates dark ink laden clouds Left behind are the remnants of snow squall shrouds, * * Fall's * cascading eminence * A new moon dawns To defy autumnal of March would be to deny the swans of their elegant arch Of their everlasting love for each other, fidelities peace As peaceful as the dove, As loyal as geese * They roam, lead bird navigator, social dominance his experience Holds sway as an avian aviator Riverboat pilot steering the helm Like the migratory birds with no homes find comfort on the majestic elm In serene and bluest of skies flocks fly in V forms * Trailing birds ride an updraft effortlessly glide along the breeze While other birds fly aimlessly Swanning over the hillside with ease * Gliding above the oceanside are the seagulls without any destination Robins let their tails just brush the ground To spat isn’t the mountain quail’s thing Just charming chit chat * Or a love song he’ll sing The parrot in the cherry blossom tree Elegant, considerate feathered friend so free The whole world belongs to you In warmer weathered early Spring

Anaya, your quote by Jung makes me think...we do have to take the spotlight off of ourselves when we love another person. Sacrifices come with great dividends. Your poem mentions several species of birds with different behaviors. They are all remarkable creatures and they are amazing to watch. You obviously enjoy them. They have the privilege of flying, which is an incredible means of travel. It's something we can dream about ...even flying an aircraft brings us near...buy not exactly there.

They sing a lovebird's song, and fly where love learns no more. Lol, it is an incredible means of travel, to me a strong wind guiding me down the foothills of the long twisting canyon I've hiked many times, it felt like I was flying, true story. Swans be the symbol of love and part of my series of bird journals.

I took your lovely avian tribute to heart. There is no more welcoming sign of love on display as the sound and sight of birds cheerfully chirping outside my window, serenading me awake on a bright spring morning. Well-done, Anaya

Dear Anaya, O' how your opening stanza beautifully and wonderfully capture the anticipation of spring's arrival, with the cockatoo's caw heralding the coming change. I loved the image of the "White icy avalanche melting" nourishing the soil beneath the brittle bush which is a powerful metaphor for the cycle of death and rebirth in nature. Anaya, such a beautiful affirmation of freedom and the boundless possibilities that spring represents. Spring Blessings, My Dear Friend, Daniel

Daniel, I used avalanche because climate change has attributed to what may seem like a precarious state of our snowpacks and like you said, cycle of death and rebirth, was what I was intending to convey (I'm working on my metaphors) thanks for your help, always. Spring blessings to you, poet ~

Such a beautiful take on the theme. Certainly unique. Interestingly, I've been in the mood for listening to Bad Company's Seagull of late. Such a beautiful sad song. But your birds are all happy and in love. I especially like you take on the swans

Delighted! I am doing a bird series, as I learn about the diversity of birds, at first my take was on the white parrot, but the contest theme is 'Love' and the swan being a symbol of love, seemed like I had no choice, and my mind made up. Swans are giants and sound like trumpets! Ty, Tommy!
