Beneath Grey Waves

He was a wandering wayfarer with fragments and flotsam adrift amidst a misty marine expanse— a hopeless harbor hiding hopes. Waves acted as fists, crushing him, pulling him deeper into sorrowful arms. I reached with resolution, my hands trembling slightly in the current, yearning to yield him,  to lift his weary spirit, from the depths of cobalt misfortune the harsh shore that cruel rogue whispered sweetly of surrender. Through tempest and rain, I battled alongside him, lifting his head above the frothy waves, as if my devotion could serve as a buoy. A gentle gesture to guide him back but life’s burdens grew heavy, my spirit tethered to his pain, and my stamina started to fade. Before I bid it goodbye. I stroked her tender lips. Salty streams swirled with my sobs as I shouted into the swirling shadows. "Do you wish to die?" My heart breaks as I resist the storm's pull. He shifted his gaze toward, two twinkling torches, twirling in the turmoil. Softly, he stated, "Yes" It was a gesture of conciliation a mirror reflecting the universe— In his act of surrender, I discovered myself. Lost on the bitter sea, Hope and pain floated as mementos, intertwined in the snare of the night.

Greetings SP. I haven't read your work for a while, but I saw you left me a comment which I do appreciate enormously. The help you talk about using the sea as a metaphor for the trouble we may find ourselves in inspires me to think about friendship and what we do for each other. The interesting thing I see here is in the 4th stanza when you refer to the tenderness of your stamina with a female pronoun. That is very interesting as we associate certain qualities as being either male or female. Personally, if more of us could accept a fondness for these types of feelings, we would have a better society in general. Tenderness and kindness expressed by a man is a sign of great strength.

In your poem the the closing lines, "Hope and pain floated as mementos, / intertwined in the snare of the night," offer a poignant reflection on the complexity of human experience. Hope and pain are inseparable, existing as intertwined forces that guide and shape your journey. The sea, with its vastness and mystery, serves as both a literal and metaphorical space for this emotional journey, where the struggle for salvation is entwined with the recognition that suffering and surrender are part of the human condition.

I love how you wrote this Lasaad. It was a a great theme to enjoy. I love how you reached out and tried to save this individual and you kept trying because that is what you do. Than you realized it was becoming difficult to save her and asked "Do you wish to die?" and they said yes. You then realized that there was no hope for her and reality hit you as you accepted what you could not control. Great metaphors and flow keeping the reader on edge, wanting a resolution. As always captivating.

Dear dr sotto, this is brilliant , I especially love the way youv started the poem with “ he is a wandering wayfarer” and then how the rest just flows so seamlessly is impressive. A very poignant poem, with so many metaphors, and imagery. So much can be felt as we read this, especially in your last lines “ In his act of surrender, I discovered myself. Lost on the bitter sea, Hope and pain floated as mementos, “ how you described loss and grief and what one learned through this, while using oceanic wordplay is truly remarkable! An exquisite poem! Pleasure reading this. Sending you light always
