Before You Move On
As I look farther down the road
A fork approaches that I see
You go your way and I go mine
To create the distance tween you and me
Promises and vows tossed to the winds
Tired hearts torn in two
Worlds away from a compromise
Put an end to me and you.
There's no room for pride or ego
If love ever has a chance to grow
There is no prize for a stubborn will
Except to wield the final blow
In time the scars will fade away
In time you may love again
Don't carry that baggage to your next lovers door
Until you have dealt with the pain.
