Beauty's Parade
BEAUTY'S PARADE
Out in the stillness away from town
where darkness drowns the light,
out in the meadow I lay myself down
to watch the night sky delight.
Here I lie where the quietness reigns;
the clamor of life is hushed.
The strawberry moon just lifted her head;
her pale face faintly blushed.
There is no sound when a black hole yawns,
no whoosh from a shooting star;
the sounds they make will take a long while
to ever travel this far.
The science that rules the universe
is forever precisely right,
but none of that matters at all to me;
it is beauty’s parade tonight.
