Beauty of Solitude Contest by Line Gauthier
Fifth Place
Enjoying a period of solitude
On the porch in dark last night
A peacefulness from deep within
Enveloped me - life seemed right
I felt a warmth of well-being
Settling my spirit so calm
Cradling me with serenity
A soothing type of balm
A whippoorwill broke the spell
A lonesome sorrowful call
I said a prayer of gratitude
I was not lonely at all
Finding happiness from within
Took time for me to discover
A process of facing truth and fear
Changing how I treat others
There is no beauty like solitude
Even if whippoorwills intrude
