Beauty Not Denied By Difference
In this pot of Daffodils
There's one not quite the same.
It's paler than the others,
A larger head, a different name.
Still they grew together
Radiant and bright.
In their golden glory
They bring our hearts delight.
Did any of the others say,
" This one does not belong! "?
Did they cause it to whither
To make themselves more strong?
No. They share their soil
Allowing this one room to grow.
Difference does not deny their beauty
Nor provoke hate and sorrow.
If creation shows compassion
Though emotion does not feel,
Surely we can do the same
To make it just as real.
