Balance Is Kept

Weighing smiles and frowns on life's scale,
hope verities balance is kept.
But the scale tips ominously
if you add the weight of tears wept.
Lovers form a duality,
sharing their feelings day and night.
And fear morphs into faint shadows;
that quickly disperse under light.
The pursuit of a soulmate has
unavoidable side effects.
For the emotion of love takes
feelings places, the heart protects.
Time heals hurting hearts like magic,
ensuring that wishes survive.
And trust realigns confused thoughts,
helping fantasies come alive.
Purging anguish from memories
time erases tears of regret.
And resuscitates dying dreams;
all but the ones you should forget.
