Awero
ÀWÈRÓ
Àwèró, the only woman squaring my moon
Your beauty is priceless
Your character is just so perfect.
Àwèró, your lips are like lilies
Dropping sweet smelling myrrh
Your eyes are as the eyes of dove
By the rivers of waters.
Àwèró, I have been to Ólúwêrî
If she could clear off this love spell
Away from my eyes
But she couldn't.
Àwèró, I have met with Sángó Ólúkòsó
If he could strike out this obsession
But he couldn't.
Àwèró, the 7 hills of iree was not left out
I climbed them with courage and hope
To prove what I have for you.
Àwèró, dakun gbó temi
My love for you is above flowers.
You are the source of my joy
Òrisà Òkè can attest to that.
Àwèró, let me be lost in your heart
For I listen not to the Hunter's whistle
Let me go astray in thy thoughts
For I give unto you all that I bear.
