As the Lansijang Flies
Tens of thousands of tiny wings
swoop and flit
in feathery frolic, echoing
each chirp, each twit,
in waves and bursts of exhilarating
jubilation
as among long-lost friends
in a chance reunion;
they swirl in swarms across
the darkening skyline
spiraling round the towering tree
like a giant vine,
then, snuggling tight for the night
at the canopy,
the lansijang swallows of Bohol
doze off so quietly.
