Angels At the Door
She stands beside the bedrail
And holds a tender hand
Giving warmth and comfort
To a soul that's in demand
She's the final earthly face
That the fading eyes will see
She stills the trepidation
And she puts the mind at ease
She calms the restless spirit
In the dawn of its rebirth
She helps to make it peaceful
On its flight from planet Earth
Angels guard the doorway
From this life into the next
They may appear as mortals
But their life is more complex
They have the heart of soldiers
Which help to make them strong
They have the will of heros
And a voice that's like a song
They carry burdens far beyond
What any others know
But every time you see their face
You only see a glow
An angel stood beside the bed
And held my mothers hand
Until the time for her to pass
Into the promised land
The nursing home and Hospice
Are the places where they reign
The doorway to the afterlife
They guard in their domain
