Always forever

Have you ever held something too tight, Knowing it would still slip away? Loving with all that you are, Yet seeing the ending, clear as day. Two paths stretch far, neither is kind— One steals my heart, the other, my mind. No matter the choice, something will break, And love is the price that fate will take. My chest aches with every thought, Tears fall for a war already lost. He is my angel, my quiet light, Yet even love can lose the fight. How long can I keep him close, When I am the reason for his pain? How do I love him enough to leave, Yet too much to walk away? We stay, pretending time is ours, But love like this can’t bloom in scars. Neither of us will say the words, Yet both of us know—this will end We are both fools, bound by fate, lost in a love that came too late. He’ll find new hands, warm and true, while I remain—a ghost in blue.
