Alone

Gone, faces of my youth, my family, my friends and classmates all of them have gone on. Some early and some later. None left to share my memories. The world is a very lonely place. I am the last of my generation.

A thought shared by those waiting their turn one day to join their loved ones. My dad lost his sister this week. She appeared to be in great health…only 74. I believe the angels came and took her home. My mom’s been gone almost a year and dad feels broken.

You have written the feelings of so many of us as we reach this time in our lives, surpassing our family and friends. I hope you have found some new company that helps fill the void.

This speaks so poignantly to the heart of all who reach the golden years, or beyond. You have touched so many with your words today, dear Joyce. I think the emotion is so honest and true to life. Sometimes we can't make younger people understand the importance of our needing a commonality with those who lived beside us through our yesterdays. Best wishes to you today!

I can relate Joyce. All my elder relatives are gone. I have lost three wonderful best friends, one to dementia who no longer knows me. Your poem packs a powerful punch to all of us who are in your boat! Excellent passion in this piece. I hope it scores high Joyce. It has with me. #7 ; )
